Significance of Mohini Ekadashi Vrat
It has a special significance in the Hindu religion that falls one time in a year. This Vrat falls in Vaishakh month on Shukla Paksha day. It is dedicated to Lord Vishnu who is the creator of the universe. The significance of Mohini Ekadashi can be described from two points of view.
First, there is a famous legend from Hindu Mythology that is, Lord Vishnu took the incarnation of Mohini on this day to save the entire creation from demons. पौराणिक कथा अनुसार, सरस्वती नदी के तट पर बासी एक भद्रावती नामक नगरी में द्युतिमान नाम का चंद्रवंशी राजा राज करता था। उसके दरबार में धन-धान्य से संपन्न और पुण्यवान एक वैश्य भी रहता था, जिसका नाम धनपाल था। वह परम विष्णु भक्त था। उसने नगर में कई भोजनालय, सरोवर, धर्मशाला, प्याऊ, कुएं आदि बनवाए थे। इतना ही नहीं, सड़कों पर आम, जामुन, नीम आदि के वृक्ष भी लगवाए थे। उसके 5 पुत्र- सद्बुद्धि, सुमना, सुकृति, मेधावी और धृष्टबुद्धि थे।
इनमें से एक पुत्र धृष्टबुद्धि महापापी था और पितर आदि को नहीं मानता था। वह वेश्या, दुराचारी मनुष्यों की संगति में रहता था और जुआ खेलता था। इतना ही नहीं वह पर-स्त्री के साथ भोग-विलास करता और मद्य-मांस का सेवन भी करता था। इसी प्रकार कुकर्मों में विलीन वह दुष्ट अपने पिता के धन को नष्ट करता रहता था। पुत्र के ऐसे बर्ताव से त्रस्त होकर पिता ने उसे घर से निकाल दिया था। घर से निकाले जाने के बाद वह अपने गहने-कपड़े आदि बेचकर अपना निर्वाह करने लगा। जब सबकुछ खत्म हो गया तो वेश्या और दुराचारी साथियों ने भी उसका साथ छोड़ दिया। अब वह खाने पीने को भी तड़पने लगा। कोई सहारा न देख वह पापी चोरी करना शुरू कर दिया।
एक बार वह पकड़ा गया तो उसे वैश्य का पुत्र जानकर आखिरी चेतावनी देकर छोड़ दिया गया। मगर दूसरी बार पकड़े जाने पर राजा की आज्ञा से उसे कारागार में डाल दिया गया। कारागार में उसे कष्ट सहना पड़ा। अंत में राजा ने उसे नगरी से निकल जाने का कह दिया।
फिर, वह नगरी से निकलकर वन में चला गया। वहां वो वन्य पशु-पक्षियों को मारकर खाना शुरू कर दिया। कुछ समय बीत जाने के बाद वह बहेलिया बन गया और धनुष-बाण लेकर पशु-पक्षियों को मारकर खाने लगा। फिर एक दिन वह भूख-प्यासा, खाने की तलाश में भटकता हुआ कौडिन्य ऋषि के आश्रम में पहुंचा। उस समय वैशाख का महीना था और ऋषि गंगा स्नान करके आ रहे थे। उनके भीगे वस्त्रों के कुछ छींटे उस पापी पर पड़ी तो उसे कुछ सद्बुद्धि प्राप्त हुई।
तब, उसने कौडिन्य मुनि से हाथ जोड़कर कहा कि हे मुने! मैंने अपने जीवन में कई पाप किए हैं। आप इन पापों से मुक्ति पाने का बिना खर्च वाले कोई साधारण उपाय बताइए। उसके दीन वचन सुनकर मुनि प्रसन्न हुए और कहा कि तुम वैशाख शुक्ल की मोहिनी एकादशी का व्रत करो। इससे तुम्हारे द्वारा किए गए समस्त पाप नष्ट हो जाएंगे। मुनि के वचन सुनकर वह अत्यंत प्रसन्न हुआ और विधि अनुसार व्रत का पालन किया। इस व्रत के प्रताप से उसके सारे पाप नष्ट हो गए और अंत में वह गरुड़ पर बैठकर विष्णुलोक को चला गया।
अत: संसार में इस व्रत से श्रेष्ठ और कोई व्रत नहीं। इसके माहात्म्य को पढ़ने अथवा सुनने से एक हजार गौदान के बराबर फल प्राप्त होता है। हर मनुष्य को यह व्रत अवश्य रखना चाहिए। साथ ही इस व्रत की कथा पढ़ना या सुनना चाहिए।
मोहिनी एकादशी पूजन विधि
Mohini Ekadashi Puja Vidhi is very important to follow correctly which is described below:-
- Wake up early in the morning on Brahma Muhurat and take a bath.
- Wear clean clothes and get ready yourself.
- Then, established the Kalash to worship lord Vishnu.
- Read or listen to Mohini Ekadashi Katha during Vrat.
- Remember Shri Hari by chanting bhajans and kirtans.
- Complete your fast on Dwadashi day by worshiping God.
- Give Dakshina to Brahmin or needy person then eat food.
